September is Suicide Awareness Month and we wanted to send some information to you to increase awareness and to give you resources you might be needing. We care deeply for you! YOU are so important to us and we want you to know you are not alone.

The word suicide can feel so taboo, but research shows that it is the leading cause of death in the US and affects people of all ages. Suicide is a serious public health problem and has far-reaching impact! It is crucial for us all to continue the conversation in order to break the stigma. Hope is possible!

For many, feelings of hopelessness and despair can become overwhelming, but I want to remind each of you that you are never alone in those moments. Reaching out for support when you're struggling is a sign of strength, and there are people who care deeply about your well-being.

Throughout this month, I encourage you to check in with yourselves and those around you. Sometimes, simply asking someone how they’re feeling or letting them know you’re there to listen can make a world of difference. We all experience tough times, and it's important to acknowledge that seeking help is not a burden to anyone.

We can’t always see pain. So understanding the warning signs is so important!

The Warning Signs:

  • No sense of purpose

  • Anger

  • Giving away possessions

  • Increased drug use

  • Increased alcohol use

  • Withdrawal

  • Putting affairs in order

  • Wreckless behavior

  • Increased anxiety or agitation

  • Feeling hopeless or desperate

  • Feeling helpless or powerless

  • Sudden mood changes

  • Talking about wanting to die or suicide

Suicide is preventable. You can help save a life by recognizing these signs and starting the conversation. Mental health is an important part of all of us and it is something to be protected. If you need to talk with someone immediately please call 988 the National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.

If you or someone you know is struggling with suicidal thoughts, please know that there is hope. There are resources available, and together, we can work toward healing. The journey may not always be easy, but with care, connection, and support, we can get through the darkest times. Your life matters, and your voice is valued. No matter the weight of your thoughts or the storm in your heart, reaching out can make all the difference. If you are struggling please know you are not alone! Reach out today! We are stronger together.

Let’s continue to support one another, not just this month, but every day.
