Welcome to Healing Hearts
It takes great courage to make the choice to reach out for counseling, but it is the first step in an incredible journey! Here at Healing Hearts Counseling we are a group of trauma-informed therapists and are passionate that healing happens as we care for the mind, body, and soul. We believe strongly in the human capacity for healing and the ability to live in freedom. When we experience trauma or difficult life circumstances, we can find ourselves stuck in unhealthy patterns of thought, emotion and behavior that can cause negative self beliefs, emotional disturbance and somatic responses in the body that can be self destructive and wounding. There is hope! And you are not alone. Our therapists are trauma-informed and specialize in EMDR, somatic healing and other trauma modalities. We would love to walk alongside of you as you heal and learn to live your fullest life!

Children
We provide age appropriate therapy for children 5 years and older to help them work through mixed-up thoughts and feelings that lead to difficult behaviors. We also provide support, therapeutic help, and psycho-education for parents and families.

Teens
From the normal struggles of identity, to bullying, family trauma and divorce, this is a perfect time to work through unhealthy patterns and behavior. When we have the opportunity to address these issues at a core level we get to help teens move into their fullest life.

Adults
From individual counseling to couples counseling, we offer a safe place to heal and work through the spaces that you may be stuck in. We work together in uncovering the root of unhealthy patterns of behavior and relationships.

The 6 Needs of the Grieving

Getting to know the “parts” of me…

Healing Hearts Inspirations
We are so thankful to have had Myra come and speak to our school nurses about being trauma-informed! Despite our technical difficulties she remained calm and engaging! She is a wonderful teacher/speaker and I felt she "re-set" so many of our nurse’s minds regarding the "difficult" kiddos they see… and remembering that behavior is communication. I watched while many took notes, or had "ah-ha" moments and made plans for working with specific students when they next encountered them. We are super grateful for you Myra!!

It has been my great pleasure to share patients with Myra Hurtado. As a family practice physician, I have numerous patients suffering from a multitude of mental health problems. I have been extremely impressed by Myra’s ability to connect with patients and to successfully assess and treat issues such as depression, anxiety, panic disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. She takes a real interest in each patient, tailoring a specific treatment plan to fit each person’s needs. Patients of mine who have been lucky enough to work with Myra have benefitted tremendously from her care. I recommend Myra Hurtado enthusiastically!

Myra has been a tremendous resource for my family practice. The expertise she has in EMDR and trauma therapy is invaluable. Myra has a gift in the way she is able to connect with her patients, no matter the age, gender, or circumstance. She creates an environment of safety and healing where I have been blessed to witness the incredible life change for so many. As a nurse practitioner, having a resource like Myra has been essential to truly impact my patients’ lives and see healing, not only physically, but emotionally and mentally. There is no one I sincerely recommend with a stronger confidence than Myra at Healing Hearts. I am honored to have her and her practice as a referral source and am thankful for the life changing work they do!

Naturally Balanced
My students got so much out of Myra’s presentation! She was able to help spark conversations about those tougher things that we do not always have the chance to discuss in class. As a teacher, I also took so much out of it! Moving forward, I definitely plan on implementing some of the things I learned in my class. I am so thankful!

Myra spoke at our city wide Breakthrough convention where she presented on trauma and the nervous system. She has compassion and empathy for people who are hurting and a sincere desire to be a support and resource to help them live the life they want and to heal from the hurt they have experienced in life. Myra communicated in a way for parents and teens to walk away with the skills and tools they needed. Myra was one of the speakers that people asked to have come back and present again!
